On April 12th, 2015 Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas departed from the Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne New Jersey to head out on a 12 night Southern Caribbean sailing. Destined for China shortly she has just two more visits to the port before leaving home for good.
My cruising experience on the Explorer of the Seas
The Quantum of the Seas first sailing to the Caribbean came to an end on December 12, 2014 as she made her way back to the Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne New Jersey. She slipped under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge at 6:00AM, this time not so silently as she sounded her horn on the way under. It was then a short ride up the river before making the left hand turn into port as the sun started to rise to the East casting the World Trade Center in a glistening light. 11 Night Southern Caribbean Sailing on 12/1/14 Day 1: Bayonne, NJ Day 2: At Sea Day 3: At Sea Day 4: San Juan, Puerto Rico Day 5: Philipsburg, St. Maarten Day 6: Fort De France, Martinique Day 7: Bridgetown, Barbados Day 8: Basseterre, St. Kitts Day 9: At Sea Day 10: At Sea Day 11: At Sea Day 12: Bayonne, NJ

The Quantum of the Seas departed the brand new Cape Liberty Cruise Port on December 1, 2014 for her first sailing to the Caribbean. She departed the terminal just after 5pm, an hour after her scheduled departure. At 4pm when she was scheduled to leave the pier was still filled with crates waiting to be loaded onto the ship. Around when we were originally scheduled to depart the Norwegian Gem sailed by to head out to sea.

The Cape Liberty Cruise Port, sometimes called Port Liberty or Cruise Port Bayonne, in Bayonne, New Jersey is one of three trans-Atlantic passenger terminals in Port of New York and New Jersey. It is located at the north side of the 3 km (1.9 mi) long pier of MOT (which has now been renamed the Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor), a former military ocean terminal, and began operations in 2004. Royal Caribbean is one of the primary tenants. In May 2006 the Freedom of the Seas, then the world's largest cruise ship, was christened in a broadcast carried live on the NBC's The Today Show.
